TASA Minor Hockey Job Posting: Goalie Development Coach
TASA Minor Hockey Association, in good standing with Hockey Nova Scotia, is seeking a Goalie Development Coach who is dependable, dedicated, results-driven and a team player. The primary responsibility will be to lead the growth and development of goaltenders at all levels registered with TASA Minor Hockey Association.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
• have played goalie at the junior, collegiate or professional level and have an in-depth knowledge of ice-hockey, goaltending, and sport-specific performance training. Other equivalent goalie experience will be considered.
• have a positive outlook and be energetic.
• enjoy coaching goalies of all ages and skill levels and focus on making goalies better every day.
• be detail-oriented, hardworking and able to thrive in high-pressure situations.
• have outstanding organizational and communication (written and oral) skills.
• enjoy working in a team environment but require little supervision.
• be a self-starter and be able to take initiative, seeing projects through to completion.
• either possess knowledge of video editing or be willing to learn.
General Responsibilities:
• Attend a minimum of10 hrs/week on-ice with Technical Director.
• Be available at the request of coaches/managers through the Technical Director or the responsible VP.
• Foster, educate, and mentor coaches at all levels.
• Be able to provide a standard list of fundamental drills, at the coach’s request, to keep skill development consistent.
• Prepare and execute drills that challenge and maximize the potential of goaltenders at all levels.
• Be responsible for communicating with coaches regarding player feedback.
• Build relationships with players/coaches/parents within the association.
• Execute and lead goaltending sessions throughout the season (e.g., free development sessions, come-try-goaltending, etc.)
• Be involved in the tryout process on an as-needed basis.
• Lead a user-pay, in-season goalie program approved by TASA executive and the Technical Director. This would include recruiting additional goaltending instructors, with relevant coaching or playing experience, for these initiatives.
• Available to provide goaltending instruction within TASA’s specialized summer/fall/winter/spring camps. (e.g., Spring Skills, Prep Camp)
